HMI for a doctor supporting screen for a root canal treatment system
Over the years, dentistry receives innovations and trends that improve the set of interfaces between the doctor and the patient and create a better experience.
The technological explosion of the last few years has not spared the field of dentistry either, and as in every field it touches, here too the result is accuracy, saving time, preventing human errors and perhaps most importantly, shortening the duration and pain of the treatment and measurable success rates over time.
The dentist's work is such a precise and miniature science that a technological gathering in this field feels harmonious and correct. Monitoring, controlling, and tracking the dentist's activity in real-time is essential for the treatment's success and a better patient experience.
The challenges in the project
My partners for this project, the ReDent Nova company, created a sophisticated system for real-time monitoring and control of complex root canal treatments. The system includes an independent control unit capable of washing, cleaning and pre-settings and during treatment with a pressure monitor HMI The one that projects different statuses during the treatment and an oral device connected by Bluetooth IOT to perform different processes during the treatment.
The first challenge faced further in the thinking process is dealing with a touch screen with limited data processing and visual display quality. The challenge is combining the animations and processing them in real-time and in the visual display quality from different angles.
The second challenge I encountered was adjusting the product in changing conditions in a dynamic position in front of the doctor so that the doctor, during the treatment, could absorb the vital information without making an effort.

For every challenge in the set of challenges, there is a reference in the world of how someone else came across it and managed to solve it. The idea is to use research, good and accurate characterization, and an excellent user experience to solve complex challenges in designing applications and user interfaces.
