App design: the entire experience

App design: the entire experience

There is something about the experience, that when it is incomplete, the degree of enjoyment is impaired.

Even in the most trivial things in life we meet ourselves in dialogue with the experience: in a cafe we choose the location and the table with which the experience feels complete to us.

In most cases we don't even have a clue why we chose this location and if we were asked to explain we probably wouldn't have a reasoned answer. The experience is ingrained in us from the habits and education we received from our environment and this experience feels complete to us if it fully meets our expectations.

A good product designer is one whose experience is the engine that drives him to create the unique design that will make us a perfect answer to our expectations. In the app world, the role of the app designer is to realize our expectations in the experience and make us enjoy it as much as we expected and even more.

Our experience consists of different components, I will try to list them here:

intuition

Our intuition as humans who absorb information and educate themselves about the changes in time led by giants like Google and Apple is a very important detail to carry out user experience Basic. Without knowing and knowing the world of the laws of intuitive experience we cannot create the basis forApp design Advanced and popular. Simply put - intuition is our ability as app designers to make the user know what his role is in the game without explaining the rules to him too much, to understand the fine line between intuitive design and "stuck" design, this is the expertise of the app and product designer.

speed

We live in a generation where we don't have time, we were taught that everything comes easily to us at the push of a button, and if it's not like that, then we have a problem. One straight line passes between two points. If our goal is to get the user to do a specific action, we must make him understand that the effort he has to perform happened at high speed he is used to. The designer's work here takes place on several levels (the path the user accepts, the animation of the various elements that reinforce the value, loading speed and movement, and how things will move on the screen).

Symbols and icons

Like any critical ingredient in the winning recipe for app design, symbols and icons play an essential role in the entire creation. They must be clear, fluent, and have a familiar character (line thickness, colors, changing states, size, formality). The clarity of understanding this sign language means strengthening the intuitive language and simplicity of operation.

lightness

Apps that take the user experience too seriously, send a boring and banal message. Lightness in the design of applications for smartphones brings the designer to create moments of high experience, this is the designer's way to express himself and inject a bit of himself into the general structure of the application, combining a touch of humor, lightness and surprise strengthens the experience and enhances it.
