Think design.

A tool for effective problem solving in startups and enterprises

Think design

Design thinking and Lean Startup processes have long become an integral part of the innovation jargon. These relatively new methodologies are being used by corporations and startups/enterprises for construction and risk assessments of all their innovation activities. Success stories such as Uber, Airbnb, Facebook, Google created the assimilation, demand and search for the knowledge that is in the process of design thinking and Lean Startup.

Learn a startup

Lean Startup is a concept first coined by Steve Blank and is best defined as a basic startup plan. Essentially, the goal is to find product-market fit by creating a minimum viable product (MVP) through a process. Building - measuring - learning and iterative improvement. To apply this methodology, the entrepreneurs must start planning a lean product with a minimum of features that will satisfy the initial target audience.

Adapting the product to the market

Immediately afterwards, the response of the initial users is measured and confirms or refutes the basic premise on which the idea is based, in this way evidence-based decisions can be made regarding the next step that the product or service is heading towards. This loop continues until product-market fit is clearly established. The goal at this stage is to prove that the project addresses the needs of the market precisely.

Design management processes

Design thinking It is a process for solving problems whose results are solutions that people like. The method is intuitive and leads to effective and creative solutions out of the box in a short time. Creative thinking is a process originally created by designers to handle long processes of creating a product from the idea stage, the target audience and their expression as an effective product. I use this process both because my background comes from complex design thinking processes and because it is a very effective tool for quickly and accurately reaching the goal.

Postal Code

The ideology of design thinking asserts that a practical, user-centered approach to problem solving can lead to innovation, and innovation can lead to differentiation and competitive advantage. This user-based approach is defined by a design thinking process and includes six different steps. If we go one level up, the whole process is wrapped in three steps moving forward in a loop: understanding - research - realization and God forbid.

Flow chart for design thinking processes

identification: Investigating the target audiences, discovering and diagnosing what the target audiences like to do, feel and say towards what you want to test. The goal is to collect enough observations and diagnoses and start identifying with the users' perspective.

definition: Using and understanding all the research results to diagnose the main problems common to a large number of your target audience.

Brainstorming (idea): Placing the inferred problems in the center and creating a creative brainstorming session to throw ideas to solve the problem, at this stage restraints must be released and thrown

Prototype

Everything that comes to mind without choosing the ideas. At this stage there is no good or bad or not good enough. No idea is too farfetched.

Building a tangible visual representation to solve the problem. At this stage the chosen solution is checked to see if it does meet the need of the problem and realize the solution at all its levels. It is important at this stage to share the prototype with a fresh group of people to get a clear idea about the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

examination: Return to feedback to get real value Does the presented solution provide real value to the problem? If so, implement the solution in front of real customers and follow what is happening.

Application: This is definitely the most important step in the process - to make the solution effective and applicable in real time. Giving emphasis to creativity, design creativity and innovation in order to maximize the solution in the eyes of the target audience.

The design management process is a very effective and focused process that starts with identifying your user data and describing a real need for a problem. This method utilizes collective expertise and stimulates innovation by examining many solutions for the same problem.
