Map design in the modern age: UX UI of maps
Throughout human history, ever since man learned to navigate and broadened his curiosity, the need arose to preserve the intuitive information he had accumulated into an accepted language. Different orientation maps from different periods in history convey to the viewer a different experience according to the spirit of the period in which the map was made. Maps teach us not only about the geographical location projected from it, but also contain a complete story in infinite shades that leaves the taste of the map creator.
In other words, such a combination of geographic information and story is the creation of the user experience of the map and as in all user experience UX, the story has great value in conveying the message to the user. Certain periods in history were shrouded in mysticism and secrecy, in other periods we witness the flavors of romanticism and expressionism. The user experience is the product of his story and behavior and the user interface is the way that all of this together is expressed visually.
Even the most recent maps in the modern era convey a story and an experience through their minimalist and creative means, here are some of the interesting modern map designs.
